Final Voyage

Paul Collins 43-44 DMS-17

With regrets,

One of Perry's finest, Paul Collins has taken his Final Voyage on the 19th of November 2006. Paul passed on peacefully in his sleep at age 81. He will be greatly missed by his loving family with whom he continued to relive and share his many sea stories of the USS Perry. Over the years Paul always had a special place in his heart for all the Perry crew and especially those who were lost at sea on that unforgettable day of September 13, 1944 when the Perry was struck by an enemy mine and was sunk off the Island of Palau.

Paul was most happy that he had the opportunity to see and reminisce once again with some of his shipmates at our Charleston reunion. He truly loved being part of the Perry Association and enjoyed viewing the recent USS Perry TV programs on the History & Discovery channels with all his family. In the words of his family he was one hell of a great guy.

Paul will be remembered at our next Memorial Service in San Antonio and is now logged into our 'gone but not forgotten' Perry memorial register.

Condolences can be sent to his daughter  collmich57@hotmail.com
