I can't begin to tell you how difficult it is for me to share this very sad news with our extended Perry family. For those of you that have walked the walk, you know there is no greater pain than the loss of your child. While we never get over our loss, we do learn to live with our grief by recalling all the fond memories that can never be taken from us.
Our dearest shipmate and extended Perry family members Mike & Sue Murray have lost their wonderful son Scott Michael Murray to a kite surfing accident in California. On the afternoon of Sunday, May 23, 2010, Scott was kite surfing at extreme conditions at Ocean Beach in San Francisco. After being unable to re-launch his kite in head-high waves, the surf entangled Scott in his kite-lines, rendering him unable to swim to safety.
Scottie fought for almost three days and waited for everyone to say their good-byes. He passed away peacefully at around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, surrounded by his mom Suzan, dad Mike and his little brother Craig.
As expressed by the many friends that knew him, Scott was an amazing person and they were all privileged to be his friend. Scott seized every day like there would never another one.
